Resolutions
I have resolved to do many things this year. I have resolved to run every day. I have resolved to start submitting my work for publication. I have resolved to make sure that the sea monkeys are fed regularly.
But that's B to the O-ring.
Fun stuff: I have developed a new recipe for dinner rolls, which bar none, are
the best part of dinner. As a vegetarian, I am deeply committed to eating all the delicious carbs I want, and therefore have devoted a great deal of time to making delicious foods that will simultaneously be freakin' scrummy and also ensure my that treadmill is well-used.
And these rolls are soft and buttery and deelish.
Other fun stuff: so there's this web site that I love called Pajiba. It's a film review site for prigs like me, and I only agree with them like, six per cent of the time, but they link to some really fun stuff from time to time. Today, they linked to this:

YEEEAAH!
I did it! I WON!! It was glorious, too. The party itself was a lot of fun. Spencer went as 3 hole punch Spencer (a tribute to Jim from
The Office), Leisl was Minnie Mouse (and won 1st prize in her age group), Bridgitte was the Little Mermaid and was sooo cute, and Axel went as Charlie Brown because his head is enormous.

They tried to make me go to rehab
I've finally decided on a Halloween costume for the annual costume party. Amy Winehouse, baby! I found a bitchin' wig on some costume website, and I'm going to get some fake tattoos (since I don't have any of my own) and an economy size tube of eyeliner. I may have been bested in years past, but no longer!
First prize, thou art mine!!
Okay. Confession time. I went to the midnight screening of Twilight two nights ago. I stood in line for four hours with two of my sisters-in-law (we weren't even the oldest people there). In my defense, I did not dress up, I did not bring my book with me, and I did not engage in a Jacob vs. Edward debate with any of the rabid teenageers in line, for to do so would have meant certain death.
And I'm on team Emmet, anyway.
It was fun, and it gave me a chance to wear my new yellow wool trenchcoat which is like, nuclear cute. Spencer got it for me; I love it. I also got a glimpse into the psyche of the average Twilighter. It's a dark and dangerous place. It also made me realize that I just might be one of them.
Egad.

Summertime, and the Living is Easy
Unless you live in the San Joaquin Valley, where the sun bakes the residents like potato fritters. It is about 115 degrees in the shade today. I have sweated off my face. I put it in a Tupperware bowl and set it in the fridge on top of the carton of eggs and I'm waiting for it to set so that I can try and reattach it later using scotch tape and craft glue.
I am not optimistic.
Also, the birds that have nested in our garage for the last three years have returned again. And once again, they have laid eggs before we noticed their presence and we are therefore unable to bring ourselves to evict them. I swear, if I find one more bird in the washing machine I may soil myself.
I can't handle that kind of shock.
